Proxy IP Address Targeting

Learn how to set up Proxy IP Targeting on your Uprival account.

To create a targeting profile by Proxy IP address, first select “Proxy IP Address” from the conditions drop-down menu. There are no other options for this targeting type. If the “Inverse Condition” box is checked, then the ad or ad group will be served to pages that are NOT using a proxy IP address. Click the “Add” button to add the targeting conditions to your ad or ad group. Then click the “Save and Close” button to save the targeting profile.

Anonymous proxy servers are intermediate servers meant to hide the real identity or IP address of the requestor. In general, a large number of online fraud and click spamming comes from anonymous proxy users. UpRival matches the viewer’s IP address using a proprietary detection algorithm along with a database of known proxy IP addresses.

Warning:
When you use Proxy IP Address targeting on an ad or ad group, you must have a backup ad or ad group that will be served to users that do not meet the Proxy IP Address conditions you have set.

Any conditions added to the same profile will be AND conditions, meaning that all conditions must be met in order for the ad or ad group to be served. To create OR conditions, you will need to create a new targeting profile. If there is more than one profile, then all conditions in Profile 1 must be met OR all conditions in Profile 2 must be met, etc. for the ad or ad group to be served.
